FULL TIME POLICE OFFICER - Pine River Police Department

JOB DESCRIPTION The City of Pine River is seeking candidates for a Full Time Police Officer.  Pine River is in Cass County Minnesota between Brainerd and Walker in the lakes area, where there is great hunting and fishing.  Pine River has a population of over 900 full-time residents.

The police department is a small agency employing a full-time Chief of Police, (2) full-time officers and (1) part-time officer.  We are seeking a candidate who will engage with the community, build relationships with the residents through positive interaction, and be proactive in patrolling and enforcement of traffic laws and city ordinances.
 
We have a great relationship with surrounding agencies and have opportunities for professional development and advanced training. 
 
Minimum qualifications: Certification in emergency driving, taser, use of force, firearms basic first aid and CPR, a comprehensive understanding of Minnesota criminal statutes and traffic laws, criminal procedures and rules of evidence.
 
Applicants must be licensed or eligible to be licensed by the MN POST Board, possess a valid MN driver’s license with a good driving record, pass a background check, physical and psychological exams.
 
Starting salary for the position is $29.00 per hour.  After a 6-month probationary period, salary goes to $29.76.  Preference will be given to officers with previous experience.

The City is looking to establish a list of volunteers willing to serve on various boards or other projects within the city.

REQUIREMENTS: Residency within City limits.

Availability of compensation varies from board to board.
